Why I Love Malaysia
Malaysia&Malaysia&Malaysia&it is a name that I always keep in my mind. It's the place that I start my heartbeat from birth, then I grow stronger and stronger until I am now. Without doubt, I love my own country, Malaysia. I think Malaysia is an ancient wonder of nature and full of aboriginal culture. I must confess that I love Malaysia because of its breathtaking scenery and the greenness of the rich land . Ità ¶s about sunny and moist along the year in this country. So, our land is rich of the tropical rainforest especially in the east coast of Malaysia.Just imagine that you take the canopy walk to get a birdà ¶s eye view of the worldà ¶s oldest rainforest, it sures amazed you. Besides, Malaysia is well known for its natural scenic beauty. For instance, you can experience a cave exploration at Niah Cave or mountain climbing at Mount Kinabalu. Surely this is a nice change of pace, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Also, Malaysia is a cosmopolitan country but we hav e three major races, that is Malays, Chinese and Indians. Even though we come from different races, background, language and skin colour, we live as a big family.Instead of argument, we choose to live in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. We treat other people brotherly or sisterly and always have great respect for each other. We took every problem to round-table talks. There are also small number of natives people, which included the Kadazan, Bisayah, Iban, Melanau and so on. Indeed, Malaysia is a country of varied cultures and traditions. Here, I met many people from different cultures and we share our faith and trust. For instance, the Malays believe the existence of Allah and their traditional costumes is à µBajuKurungà ¶.Besides, some natives also have very unique tradition. For instance, the Kadazan people in the Penampang of Sabah. The traditional costumes for Kadazan people is à µSinuanggaà ¶ and à µGaungà ¶. Surely you can made a breakthrough for your exploration. They also have their own local beliefs. Furthermore, Ià ¶m always in high spirits to be under a festive atmosphere because we have many festivity in the whole year. During the season of celebration, the whole town is in festive mood and you may witness a great occasion in our country. The Chinese New Year celebrations falls to mark the beginning of the new year. This special events is the single most important festival in the Chinese Calendar and Chinatown celebrates it like nowhere else with a series of Lion Dance and dazzling light-ups. Truly, I love the local delicacies in Malysia. I really enjoy the traditional cuisine of local people. I have been offered different types of flavor of food, such as the taste of sour, sweet, bitter and spicy. I prefer the food of hot spicy, especially the chicken curry soup from Indians cuisine.I was on cloud nine when my tastebud exploded with spicy hot. However strong a man is, he canà ¶t fight against fate! I found that the power of nature is out of our imagination and the coming of disasters are all of a sudden. So I feel lucky to be a Malaysian because Malaysia is free of natural disasters like earthquake, volcano, landslide, tsunami and others. I feel safe and secure living in this country. Deep inside, Malaysia is considered as a wonderland in my heart. On top of that, I relish eating local fruits. In my youth, I climbed rambutan and guava tree to pick and eat the fruits right off the trees. My favourite local fruits is durian and Indian mango. Durian is a large tropical fruit and it is a seasonal fruit in our country. The durian are cheap and easily available. Although it gives out an unpleasant smell, I even still crazy of it. Another is Indian mango which has an aromatic smell and its flesh is bright yellow, very juicy and sweet to taste. In a nutshell, Ià ¶ll always stick up with my country as it is such a beautiful land. Like no other, I will love you forever, MALAYSIA!

Steryotypes Of Teenagers
I am writing to inform you about how I feel when I see certain articles that have been published in your newspaper. Most of these articles are about teenagers with a lot of negative coverage. I hope through this letter that you will understand what so many teenagers feel when reading the negative articles that YOU publish. Hopefully, after this letter you wonââ¬â¢t ever stereotype anyone without full information about them again. It was just last week that I was reading a copy of ââ¬ËThe Sunââ¬â¢ when my eyes focussed on this one article, it was titled ââ¬ËJeremyââ¬â¢s ââ¬ËHappy Slapââ¬â¢ Ordealââ¬â¢.My eye then alighted on Jeremy Clarksonââ¬â¢s face, (the guy from Top Gear) and that I think just spurred me on to read more. I didnââ¬â¢t really know what to expect but honestly I had no idea this was about teenagers. Whilst reading this article I realized something was wrong. Usually when you have an article like this in the newspapers thereââ¬â¢s alway s two points of view. Normally the two parties or persons involved have a say, but this particular article shows extreme bias.We simply hear Jeremyââ¬â¢s point of view and leave the teenagers opinions unheard. Personally I think this is very unfair, when journalists do things like this, itââ¬â¢s not right; itââ¬â¢s actually very sly and manipulative. You instantly portray Clarkson as ââ¬Ëour manâ⬠¦ the victimââ¬â¢ and the others as ââ¬Ëa gang of teenage thugsââ¬â¢. How are readerââ¬â¢s going to have a balanced view of the situation, when this is how you set the article up? There is one quote in the article about police which I am angry about, which is ââ¬Å"the police?Oh come on they are too busy filling in health and safety forms and processing speeding finesâ⬠. This quote irritates me dramatically because frankly itââ¬â¢s not true. The, I see them police are not too busy with speeding fines or health and safety forms. I always see police when I go out dealing with young drunk men or people brawling in the street. This tells me that Jeremy was wrong about the police. Jeremy Clarkson has obviously been brainwashed by the media.Heââ¬â¢s just making assumptions about stuff, like most famous people do, because unlike some people he doesnââ¬â¢t have the decency to go and talk to teenagers and find out the truth, or maybe there arenââ¬â¢t any brains in his head. Either that or HIS parents didnââ¬â¢t bring him up properly. His parents probably didnââ¬â¢t teach him basic manners and he doesnââ¬â¢t know what being polite is. Interestingly enough, as I was reading on I noticed how conceited and arrogant he was when discussing the parenting skills of these teenagers.Jeremy states that ââ¬ËNothing can be done about the parents because they are too thickââ¬â¢. Yes, he is attempting to be humorous, but there is truth, in his eyes, in what he is saying and it is offensive! I strongly disagree with him because pare nts have the intelligence to do anything for their kids and help them through their lives. I was actually very enraged at this, I can tell you that my parents are NOT and I repeat NOT thick. Rather they are very intelligent because to raise a baby into a grown female/male with basic manners and high morals takes a lot.I can understand why he is thinking like this because he didnââ¬â¢t have a very happy ending of the encounter with the teens but common who needs all of the aggression? He starts off by branding teenagers as brutal thugs who love drink a lot of cider and love to stab passers-by. When i read this i feel really outraged that he has the audacity to say such things, I mean how the hell does he know all teenagers are like this. I can confirm to you that i am a teenager and me and my friends donââ¬â¢t drink vast quantities of alcohol or love to stab passers-by as a hobby.I have to say he is being really ignorant because heââ¬â¢s trying to make teenagers look all vio lent and whatââ¬â¢s really weird is that the teens didnââ¬â¢t touch him but he just thought heââ¬â¢d just grab the ringleader by the scruff of his neck. Now what do you call that? I say thatââ¬â¢s what you would call a ââ¬Ëmiddle age thugââ¬â¢. Now there is no way you can disagree with me he was the aggressor there, he just assumed it was ok to enforce violence on a group of teens who hadnââ¬â¢t even touched him.

Internet Management
Internet Corporation for Assigned names and Numbers (ICANN) is the non-governmental organization that is primarily responsible for making key technical decisions related to the internet. à ICANN was established in 1998 in California, United States.Previously, it was Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), run by US government, which performed these tasks(ICANN,n.d.).ccording to the Joint project agreement between US government and ICANN, the responsibilities of ICANN are to ensure transparency and accountability in matters related to technical coordination of internet addresses, security of root name servers, and taking part in Government Advisory Committee. For public, what it essentially does is that it takes appropriate steps to coordinate unique addresses of websites. Control of content on internet, stopping of spam, and access to internet do not come under its responsibilities(ICANN,n.d.).2. Why is this organization so controversial?Ever since the IANAââ¬â¢s tasks were t ransferred to ICANN, the controversy over its workings began. à ICANN is mainly criticized for its unaccountability and secretive workings. It is not subject to the kind of accountability that other non- governmental organizations are. Some critics also argue that ICANN has disempowered its employees to challenge it workings through Californiaââ¬â¢s laws(ICANN,n.d.).In the beginning years, directors were appointed after a community of internet users voted them to positions. But after sometime, that rule was eliminated and now the directors are not appointed through a democratic process. ICANN defended itself by saying that they were restructuring themselves to come up to the expectations of modern internet. But, critics do not agree. So till this day, ICANN is an organization which is subject to minimal accountability. It is also being criticized for not letting governments, United Nations, and International Telecommunication Union to exercise appropriate level of power.3. What are one or two recent decisions this organization has recently come under criticism for?On 25th June, ICANN introduced new rules with regard to website domains. Previously, a website owner could get a website that ended in .com, .org etc. But, now they have more choice. They can buy an address which can end in any way such as, .khi, .apple etc. à Many people have criticized this move because they believe that there is no need for more competition in this market. Some also contend that there is no demand for additional domains.Another major concern regarding this program is the high cost of getting a gTLD. According to ITworld.com, ICANN hopes to get $185,000 from organizations for gTLD and an additional $75,000 per year more to keep it. So, the cost is enormous. Governments of Paris and New York, who plan to get the new gTLD, also say that the cost of getting a new gTLD is way too high (ICANN,n.d.).4. Why do you think so many people generally are unaware about who controls the int ernet? One simple reason for people not being aware of who controls internet is that people are not interested to know about it. Many of the ordinary web surfers are mainly concerned with visiting their favorite websites and not with knowing about the controllers of internet.Although owners of the website buy domains for themselves yet they do not know about who controls internet. One reason for this can be that many owners of websites are part- timers. So, they do not have enough time to consider these matters.

Present a case study based on a current news story which illustrates the microeconomic concepts - Essay Example ment by the company in taking its responsibilities thereby recommending the cut of any business transaction between the company and all government agencies. However, the ban did not affect the existing contracts thereby applied only to any other new contract that the company would gain interest in. The company admitted knowledge of the ban and said that they were doing everything within their reach to redefine the relationship between them and the government thus lifts the ban. The 2010 deep water disaster arose after an undersea oil pipe burst thereby killing more than eleven Americans and resulting in the worst environmental disasters in the world. The British Petroleum thereafter pleaded guilty of all the accusations leveled against it by the American government after which it embarked on a massive environmental cleaning process and the compensation of all the victims of the accident. Apart from the human loss, the oil spillage resulted in the death of millions of aquatic life and the destruction of business for thousands of America investors as several beaches within the gulf filled with the oil sediments. On 15th November 2012, BP had reached a consensus with the justice department to pay four and a half billion dollars thereby ending all criminal charges leveled against it by the government. The company therefore reiterated their commitment to work closely with the American institutions to ensure that such an accident does not recur and that it settles all its obligation in relation to the accident. However, according to Charles Teifer, a government contracting specialist and a professor of law at Baltimore University, the ban served as a warning to the company and to other stakeholders in the oil drilling business. Teifer explained that such a ban communicated American commitment to protecting its territories especially after suffering the greatest loss because of the carelessness on the part of the company. On the other hand, the environmental authority

Analysis of the Arabian Construction Companys Costs Essay
Analysis of the Arabian Construction Companys Costs - Essay Example ACC tries to minimize costs by cutting down on some of its expenditure. The expenditure on unnecessary variable costs is cut down to ensure efficiency. Analysis of the firmââ¬â¢s market structure Arabian Construction Company is operating in a perfectly competitive market, which has many buyers and sellers. The forces of demand and supply therefore determine the prices of the products offered by the company. Among the competitors of ACC, we have the Larsen & Toubro, which carries out large-scale construction projects and designs. The other is the DLF, which deals in the development of housing and retailing in property as well. The company has developed over 70 million square units of housing projects up to date. The firms in the construction industry do not deal on single products qualifying them to be in a perfect competition form of market. The industry is free to enter and free to exit with very few legal formalities placed by the government governing company registration hence no barriers to entry into the market. Any firm which feels can withstand the fierce competition in the field can enter the market. The firms are also not forced to stay in the market hence they can a lways leave at their pleasure most so if they are not able to compete favorably (Etro & Federico, pg.132). The firms in this market are therefore neither price takers nor price makers; the forces of market, which are the forces of demand and supply, dictate the prices of their outputs. Profits are therefore highly regulated.
Engaging Communication Technologies of the 1950s Assignment - 1
Engaging Communication Technologies of the 1950s - Assignment Example Moreover, the advent of digital media has brought the conditions of the old technologies into relief, making the world more conscious of the media environment (Winston, P. 12). This paper explores the technological advances in the media industry across the world in the 1950s. In particular, the paper discusses how technological changes affected the lives and perceptions of people in different regions of the world, comparing how technology was used then and its modern use. Among the decades of the second half of the 20th Century, perhaps the 1950s was regarded as the most conservative. Nevertheless, it is during the same period that different regions of the world experienced many advances and changes in technologies and their uses. In this regard, a lot changed in the way people carried out their routine activities as work became easier to do. Given that World War II had just ended less than a decade ago and the world had come to appreciate the use of machinery and technology during the war, different governments and individual scientists embarked on developing new technologies in addition to improving on the existing ones (Winston, P. 31). The technologies that people merely anticipated during and before World War II began to become a reality for many of the people, more so in the Western World and some regions of Asia. Among the sectors that benefitted most from the technological developments of the 1950s was the communication and transport sector, particularly the media industry. It is therefore not be realistic and proper to label the 1950s a sleepy or a conservative decade. As far as media technology is concerned, the 1950s was one of the most productive and revolutionary decades. For example, a rapid change was recorded in both television and radio technology and content. In addition, there were developments in the technologies related to newspaper

Transparency for an open world Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Transparency for an open world - Research Paper Example Secondly, the controversy also revolves around the quality of photos taken. The photos question the intention of the photographer who took the photos even when the photographs follow the rule which governs photography. Questions are posed as to whether the photo shooting act was intentional or it was accidental. However, most photographs are controversial because majority of the photographers who captures them always fail to follow the rules like those governing the thirds and leads. They fail to consider the affected as they do not enhance the autopsy photos to suit the moods and emotions of the affected and even the public ((Morewitz, 2014). à à Thirdly, it is largely speculated that majority of these photos are being displayed for monetary purposes. Individuals who display the photos always sell them to the highest newspaper and media bidders. Therefore, this raises the question on the intent for taking the photos in the first place. This is because companies or agencies posti ng these photos are profit oriented, therefore are capable of paying large sums for the photos just to increase their profits by making headlines on the photos. In my own opinion, I am in support of the publicââ¬â¢s right to know the actual cause of a personââ¬â¢s death by being allowed to access the autopsy photos. This is because it clears any uncertainty regarding the cause of death especially those surrounded by controversies. An example is that the case involved maybe that of a public figure and their personality.

Why grey wolves should not be on the Endangered Species list Research Paper
Why grey wolves should not be on the Endangered Species list - Research Paper Example At present, the grey wolvesââ¬â¢ populations are reported to be present in increasingly healthy numbers in the northern parts of Michigan and Wisconsin, the western part of Montana, the northern parts of Idaho and Oregon, and in Yellowstone, Wyoming. This is a small area of what once was the grey wolvesââ¬â¢ habitat consisting of about 67 percent of the United States. They are bushy-tailed carnivorous canines that vary in color from brown to black to white, have life spans of anywhere from eight to 15 years, and resemble German shepherds. The data shows that populations have since bounced back from endangered levels, and there is a case to be made that due to the success of efforts to conserve the remaining grey wolves populations, that there is no longer a need to continue to put them among the endangered species list (Levy; National Wildlife Federation). II. Discussion The basis of the endangered species list is what is known as the ESA Law of 1973, or the Endangered Species Act. It was under this law that the grey wolf was put in the endangered list, and subjected to proactive measures to revive populations, including the enactment of protections on the federal programs and the execution of programs to reintroduce the species in traditional habitats. The reality is that the program has been a success, as deemed by the federal government after surveying the populations of grey wolves and finding that in six states, the numbers have grown to such an extent that they could be removed from the endangered species list. Aside from the return to healthy levels of the grey wolf in those six states where it has been removed from the endangered species list, the Fish and Wildlife Service FWS also began to argue that the original assessment of the habitats of the grey wolf included areas that were not natural habitats after all. Therefore, the protection given to them in many states were not warranted. The further argument is that by removing the grey wolf from t he endangered list, the authorities can then focus its conservation efforts on a cousin of the grey wolf, which is the Mexican wolf, deemed to be also reaching critical numbers and needing protection (Woolston). The idea moreover is that by removing the grey wolf from the endangered list, individual states like Oregon could begin the process of managing the populations on their own, sans the benefit of the protection, in line with the way the states also manage the populations of other thriving species. In this light, the move by the FWS to have the grey wolf delisted is something that makes sense, and has the support of states like Oregon. To put it another way, that the plan to delist the grey wolf has the support and backing of states that have native grey wolf populations, and who have a stake in making sure that the state ecologies thrive and remain balanced, means that the move to remove the grey wolf from the endangered list is sound (Environment News Service). The indication s, moreover, is that once delisted, states become very prudent with regard to granting licenses and quotas for hunting grey wolves, ensuring that the numbers are well-managed. This is true for instance in states like Wyoming, which have been very careful to prune quotas and not overkill grey wolves populations, which have returned to healthy numbers in the state as well (Guerin). There is also the argument from the point of view of the return to healthy numbers of the grey wolves beginning to pose problems to the ecology and to the other wildlife in the affected states, while also becoming a

Early childhood play inquiry Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Early childhood play inquiry - Assignment Example According to Abbott (1994), it is not all types of play which will be beneficial to the child in terms of their early childhood development. Structured play however, as Abbot (1994) says, is able to help the child to analyse situations, investigate various materials and elements and come up with their own conclusions about the world around them. This process is very helpful to the child as it helps the childââ¬â¢s mental faculties to develop and in a positive way and also helps the child to interact with the world around her in a way that will increase her skills and her thinking processes Abbott (1994). In this regard, play becomes an essential part of learning and without it the child may have to take much longer before they are able to assimilate the world around them. As Abbott (1994) warns, play must be designed with the main intentions to help the child to learn rather than just having fun. According to Bruce (1996), children and adults have a lot in common with regard to how they learn. These commonalities include issues such as the learning from firsthand experience, learning through games and rules and representing their experiences through symbols such as music, drawings, drama etc. However, unlike adults, children only make sense of their experiences and what they learn through play (Bruce, 1996). This is why it is absolutely necessary for adults and especially early childhood teachers to be able to link play to the curriculum. Once they learn about this, it becomes very necessary to be able to help the child to link what she learns in theory and to the real world. In other words, to a child, the play section is like the laboratory for a high school student where they go to make sense of the theories they learn in school. The teacher therefore has to ensure that this ââ¬Å"laboratoryâ⬠is well equipped for the child to be able to explore as much as

Traffic light controller using microprocessor
Traffic light controller using microprocessor Traffic Light Controller Using 8085 Microprocessor Aim The main aim of this project is to design a Traffic light controller using 8085 microprocessor, interfacing with peripheral device 8085, and program implementing the process. Introduction The 8085 Microprocessor is a popular Microprocessor used in Industries for various applications. Such as traffic light control, temperature control, stepper motor control, etc. In this project, the traffic lights are interfaced to Microprocessor system through buffer and ports of programmable peripheral Interface 8255. So the traffic lights can be automatically switched ON/OFF in desired sequence. The Interface board has been designed to work with parallel port of Microprocessor system. The hardware of the system consists of two parts. The first part is Microprocessor based system with 8085. Microprocessor as CPU and the peripheral devices like EPROM, RAM, Keyboard Display Controller 8279, Programmable as Peripheral Interface 8255, 26 pin parallel port connector, 21 keys Hexa key pad and six number of seven segment LEDs. The second part is the traffic light controller interface board, which consist of 36 LEDs in which 20 LEDs are used for vehicle traffic and they are connected to 20 port lines of 8255 through Buffer. Remaining LEDs are used for pedestrian traffic. The traffic light interface board is connected to Main board using 26 core flat cables to 26-pin Port connector. The LEDs can be switched ON/OFF in the specified sequence by the Microprocessor. The normal function of traffic lights requires sophisticated control and coordination to ensure that traffic moves as smoothly and safely as possible and that pedestrians are protected when they cross the roads. A variety of different control systems are used to accomplish this, ranging from simple clockwork mechanisms to sophisticated computerized control and coordination systems that self-adjust to minimize delay to people using the road. Traffic Controller Systems A traffic signal is typically controlled by a controller inside a cabinet mounted on a concrete pad. Although some electro-mechanical controllers are still in use (New York City still has 4,800), modern traffic controllers are solid state. The cabinet typically contains a power panel, to distribute electrical power in the cabinet; a detector interface panel, to connect to loop detectors and other detectors; detector amplifiers; the controller itself; a conflict monitor unit; flash transfer relays; a police panel, to allow the police to disable the signal; and other components. Fixed Time Control The simplest control system uses a timer (fixed-time): each phase of the signal lasts for a specific duration before the next phase occurs; this pattern repeats itself regardless of traffic. Many older traffic light installations still use these, and timer-based signals are effective in one way grids where it is often possible to coordinate the traffic lights to the posted speed limit. They are however disadvantageous when the signal timing of an intersection would profit from being adapted to the dominant flows changing over the time of the day. Dynamic Control Dynamic, or actuated, signals are programmed to adjust their timing and phasing to meet changing traffic conditions. The system adjusts signal phasing and timing to minimize the delay of people going through the intersection. It is also commonplace to alter the control strategy of a traffic light based on the time of day and day of the week, or for other special circumstances such as a major event causing unusual demand at an intersection. The controller uses input from detectors, which are sensors that inform the controller processor whether vehicles or other road users are present, to adjust signal timing and phasing within the limits set by the controllers programming. It can give more time to an intersection approach that is experiencing heavy traffic, or shorten or even skip a phase that has little or no traffic waiting for a green light. Detectors can be grouped into three classes: in-pavement detectors, non-intrusive detectors, and detection for non-motorized road users. Working Program Design of a microprocessor system to control traffic lights. The traffic light arrangement is as shown in Fig. The traffic should be controlled in the following manner. 1) Allow traffic from W to E and E to W transition for 20 seconds. 2) Give transition period of 5 seconds (Yellow bulbs ON) 3) Allow traffic from N to 5 and 5 to N for 20 seconds 4) Give transition period of 5 seconds (Yellow bulbs ON) 5) Repeat the process.
